How much would it cost to remodel a bathroom that’s roughly 10×10?

Hi asked:

When I say remodel, I mean totally remodel - i.e. new sink, tub, flooring, toilet. However, we’re not looking to pay like 7 bucks a square foot for tile or anything crazy.

It’s our starter home, but we would like it to look nice.

What is the average cost for something like this?
we’re doing the work ourselves.

You can figure about $100/SF - but that would include a total build out - sheetrock and all. If you are doing a partial remodel - just new accessories and flooring you could get away with using about $50/SF. These numbers should get you a rough estimate. Another way of doing it is to figure out how much your material costs and double it to include the labor costs. Again - these will just give you some general numbers for estimating purposes.

We just remodeled ours and did everything our selves. Gutted it, put in new subfloor, waterproofing layer, ceramic tiles, new tub, toilet, vanity, all new fixtures, new doors, the works..(but nothing too over the top). It ended up costing us around $4000. The contractor quoted us double that. However, it took us almost a year to complete all the work. Given that was our only bathroom with a shower/tub, it was quite the inconvience (having to shower at the gym, friends houses etc..). The contractor could have finished it in a couple weeks.
