What are my rights after I’ve obtained a building permit for a remodel?
pvtlable asked:
I got a building permit for a major remodel of my home. We (the contractors) followed the codes/ordinances. For some unknown reason the inspectors “boss” got involved and started holding up the project; not based on any code enforcement - “just because”. He’s done this before. Taking the problem to a higher power just got ignored. We had to have an attorney intervene with EVERY inspection request. It took us 7 years to complete the remodel. What are my rights?

That is a very tough situation. I work in the home-building industry and am constantly battling one “rogue” building inspector who likes to play God. I really have not found a way around them, going over their heads does nothing. I suggest you consult an attorney about possible damages but you are facing a major uphill battle. I do wish you the best of luck.

Get an attorney. He has abused his power.

Time to take your complainte, his objections and enforecment complaints to the board that oversees him and advise them that for some reason this gentleman has taken a personal interest in killing your project and you’d like it addressed
